Frequently asked questions

FAQ’s

Psychotherapy refers to the process of working with a skilled therapist who uses evidence-base therapeutic interventions to help you explore, understand, manage and cope with difficult experiences, emotions and various life transitions.
Anyone and everyone can benefit from psychotherapy and counseling services, as we all experience periods in our lives where we can use some support. Psychotherapy can help you gain a fresh perspective which may help you navigate the difficulties you’re facing through different paths- this can happen while you receive the necessary support throughout the process as you dive into your life and experiences.
The cost for our services vary by both the needs of our clients and the financial situation present, it has a wide range and we try to ensure it’s fair for both the therapist and the clients.
I am not a Canadian Citizen, can I still reach out for services and be covered?
Yes, depending on your status (Student/ Worker/ Asylum Seeker/Permanent Resident) and insurance through work/school, you may be eligible to be covered by insurance if that is a plan you receive, ask your school/work about coverage and limit per year. Even Asylum seekers (Refugee claimants) in Canada are covered under the Blue Cross insurance, which is something we also accept and are able to do direct billing with. Please reach out for more information.

While psychotherapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario, it is unfortunately not covered under OHIP, OW or ODSP or other provincial health insurance plans.
The majority of extended health benefits, however, do cover psychotherapy (typically in your health and dental insurance package from your employer or through your School insurance). We encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist or Psychologist to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage. We do not reimburse sessions if it turns out you do not have coverage, we do try our best to discuss and mention this during consultation.
We also understand that some people are unable to afford paying for sessions, thus we always ensure that therapy is an accessible service as other medical health and wellbeing services. Thus, if you are seeking free services, there are free government funded-mental health services available in the community through community health centers, non-profit organizations, and mental health clinics in your city. Please reach out to your local city number to inquire about available services in your area.

Fortunately, Psychotherapy services provided by a Mental Health Professionals are recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Canada Revenue Agency. The CRA website reflects this in their list of eligible expenses.
Sliding scale is a way we can make therapy more accessible to people, as we understand that this service is needed for health and wellbeing. For prospective clients who do not have insurance coverage, on a limited basis depending on the situation, our therapist does offer a sliding scale at reduced rates. Please reach out to us if you want to learn more about sliding scale and to set up a time to schedule an assessment.
At this time, we accept payments via etransfer, money transfer (WesternUnion and MoneyMart), as well as Cash.
Most insurance covers our services for Psychotherapy and counselling in Canada, Specifically Ontario, and depending on your coverage and benefits. Please connect and discuss with your insurance to confirm.
We do not do direct billing due to policies and procedure; an invoice is issued to the client, and after payment has been received, a receipt is issued. The client can then send the receipt to their insurance company for direct reimbursement to them.
Most insurance companies do accept covering services offered by psychotherapists. You may also claim receipts under the Psychologist category as my Supervisor’s name appears on receipts and is a Registered Psychologist covered by most insurance companies. We do understand that not everybody has insurance coverage, which is why we do assess on a case by case basis. Please connect with us for further information.
Cancellations require 48 hours notice. Cancellations with less notice or no-shows may be subject to a fee of the full session rate. We understand life happens, and things may change, so we honour clear communication which creates a culture of respect and avoids misunderstandings.
We do our best to ensure you have a safe and compassionate environment while we support you in walking your path, overcoming obstacles and bumps in your journey, as we make sense of where you are now, where you’ve been and strive to support you in finding the light that guides you as you walk through life with meaning, hope, purpose, and resiliency.
